Took the day off yesterday, so I could look after my daughter and myself, and try to get rid of this darned cold. Good thing I didn’t need to go anywhere, as it was down to 8 degrees (F). I’m hoping this will be the last of the really cold weather. I hate the cold.

Today, however, has been business as usual. Working on a new symbol set for Campaign Cartographer 2. It’s a hand drawn symbol set I’m designing for the Kolrath campaign setting I hope to publish in 2007. The symbol catalog, though, will be published before before then.

I’m also trying to finish up a long overdue project for Battlefield Press. I need to get this done ASAP.

No, not an adult toy that vibrates, you naughty people.  I bought a Wacom Graphire4 tablet today.  It’s just a small one, the 4″ x 5″ model, but for the work I’m doing it should be fine for now.

What will I be doing?  Well, one of the programs that came with the tablet is JustWrite Office.  It’s a program that allows you to use the tablet to write on a Word document as if you were writing on a hard copy with a pen.  So, when doing editing, I can mark the corrections on the page as I find them.  What’s also great is the fact it saves what I’ve written into the Word doc so other people can read it and they don’t need to have JustWrite Office installed.

I’ve also been planning a series of handdrawn symbols for use with CC Pro, and having the tablet will make it a lot easier to do.  I can draw reasonably well with my marble mouse, but having the tablet will make things much easier.

One of the blogs I read is WWdN and he said he’s trying to write for at least ten minutes every day.  I’m going to try and do that too.  Not just for this blog, but just writing in general.

So, here’s my first ten minutes for today.  :)  Or at least the beginning of it, while I go to work on another project.

Andreas Katsulas, the actor who played G’Kar on the series Babylon 5, died of lung cancer on February 13.

In another blog I read, the author quoted another blogger who had posted some dialog that G’Kar had said in the show:

“I believe that when we leave a place a part of it goes with us and part of us remains. Go anywhere in these halls, when it is quiet and just listen. After a while you will hear the echoes of all of our conversations, every thought and word we’ve exchanged. Long after we are gone, our voices will linger in these walls for as long as this place remains. But I will admit that the part of me that going will very much miss the part of you that is staying.”

These words are so true. And not just for Katsulas, but for anyone who manages to touch our lives.

Some people think next to Friday, Wednesday is the best day of the week. I don’t think so. I think it’s the worst day. There’s still two full days until the weekend. Wednesday night tv sucks. (Yeah, I’ve got digital cable. 150+ channels, plus OnDemand, and there’s nothing I want to watch.) It’s the day you find out you forgot to take a trash bag to the curb yesterday (trash day), you know, the one you put out in plain sight so you wouldn’t forget to take it out.

I’m sure there are other things wrong with Wednesdays, but I just can’t think of them right now.
