War Games
Filed Under Idea Factory | Leave a Comment
No, I don’t mean computer games.
Winnipeg used for urban warfare training
Of course, there will be people freaking out because they don’t pay attention to the news, or read their mail.
A situation like this, though, would make for a very interesting setting. The military is conducting war games, and something goes wrong. Or the bad guys find out and plan their attack to happen during that time. Lots of opportunity for fun.

New World Building Page
Filed Under World Building | Leave a Comment
I’ve added a page to the World Building section, called Modern Era Resources. Right now, it has links to some pages I’ve found that might be useful to people playing or writing in a modern setting.

It’s Friday
Filed Under Idea Factory, Webcomic | Leave a Comment
Just a quick note right now while I’m thinking of it. I’ll probably do another posting later, but we’ll see. I’ve updated the Silly Spam Subject Lines page, and the redesign of the Domino Girls website is more or less complete. (I don’t remember if I’d already announced that).
Things are moving along well with the comic. Don’t hold me to it, but we might actually be starting to publish pages by the end of May.

Work or Play
Filed Under Personal | Leave a Comment
When you’re a freelancer, if you don’t work, you don’t get paid. That makes it difficult to take a vacation, or to work on personal projects. Like the novel. I can work on a project that I’m guaranteed to get a couple of hundred dollars on (a layout job I’ve been contracted for) or on the novel, which there’s no guarantee I’ll ever see a penny for.
I really want to work on the novel, but those bills are coming in. I need to sit down, look at all the projects I have on the go, and make up a schedule for what I’ll do when.
Going back and reading over that statement makes me chuckle. I keep trying to make schedules, saying “Wednesday is Novel Day”, but it just never works out that way.

“The Paper”*
Filed Under Idea Factory | Leave a Comment
One of the best sources of ideas I have - and, admittedly, one of the best sources of chuckles - is the Weekly World News. Their Photoshopping skills are amazing, and some of the stories are fantastic. I’ve been clipping my favorite articles from it for about four years now. You never know when you’ll need a reference to the war between Bigfoot and the aliens.
*A virtual cookie to anyone who can tell me where the WWN was called “the Paper”.
