Happy Hallowe’en!
Filed Under Stuff | Leave a Comment
I will be celebrating the holiday by working like crazy on Domino Girls pages, working on Chapter 4 of TMA, and doing last minute prep for NaNoWriMo. Oh, and catching up on the crits I need to do for my writing group.
I’m certain there are other things that need to be done too, but I haven’t logged into simpleology yet today.

Tapping Tuesday

I’m a bit late with this post, but better late than never. There were some errands that had to be run, and then I got down to work. Being out of my routine made me forget about doing a blog entry until a few moments ago.
I got Chapter 3 of TMA done and to my writing group. Already got some feedback on it, which is cool. I love my writing group. Everyone has got a different strength when it comes to crits, so we get a good range of things commented on. Once again it looks like what I learned at the conference is really helping. Everywhere I used the techniques, I got good feedback. Nothing really too wrong with the chapter either, which lets me do a mini happy dance.

Jumpstarting Monday

After spending a weekend doing lots of stuff (include a bunch of nothing), it’s sometimes hard to get back into the swing of things on Mondays. I think I have as much of a problem with it as the kids do. I’m trying to get myself more focussed and back on track more easily come Monday morning. To that end, I’m trying out a website/service called simpleology. It’s a system for learning better time management, and teaches you how to figure out what your goals are, how to break them down into steps, and how to achieve them. I’m on Day Four of the “course”, and I’ve already found it to be a great help.
Time management is if vital importance to me, because I have so much going on and I’m my own boss (more or less). It reminds me about my daily writing goals for the revisions, and when NaNoWriMo starts up on Thursday, it’ll be even more important as I won’t forget the stuff that needs to get done.
Speaking of NaNoWriMo, keep an eye on the word count meter in the column on the right. I’ll be keeping track of my word count there. There will also be word counts for the people I’m in a challenge with. They’ll probably wipe the floor with me, as I’m not aiming to win this year. Too many other things to do.
So, what’s on the slate for today? My short term goal is to complete the rewrite of Chapter 3. I’m ahead of schedule by two pages, IIRC, so that’s good. I won’t slack off, though.
I’d also like to announce that the first book of The Kandris Seal game setting has been released. Please go check it out!

Things I Accomplished Yesterday
Filed Under Art of Writing | Leave a Comment
- I finished Chapter 2 Revision 1 of TMA.
- Spent some quality time with my munchkins.
- Got caught up on the Heroes episodes I missed.
- Tried not to check the USPS tracking system every 30 seconds to see where my copy of A Lick of Frost is.
- Listened to the most recent episode of The Survival Guide to Writing Fantasy.
- Sat there, staring at the computer screen, wondering where the heck all the time went.
- Listened to the “soundtrack” of Evil Genius, one of my favorite computer games.
For those of you keeping track of such things, you’ll see that the word meter for the TMA rewrite has actually gone down by about 600 words. That’s because in the rewrite of Chapter 2, I cut out a lot of stuff that didn’t fit with the new mood.
And the Gates of Amduat word meter will be staying at 0 until November 1st, when I start writing. That’s why I’m pushing so hard to get the HFP stuff done and the books out.

But… I have a good reason for not posting yesterday!

Actually I don’t. I got busy doing stuff for Hart-Felt Productions and completely forgot about it. I’m almost done the new website for the Kandris Seal line of books, and Capers, Cliffhangers and the Kandris Seal has been sent off to the proofreader for a final check before it’s released.
And I still haven’t finished Chapter 2 of TMA. I suck.
