ROW 80 Check-In for July 27

Once again, I missed the check-in on Sunday. Oh well. :)

I did a bunch of writing over the past week. About 1500 words all total, but not for my WIP, but writing is writing so it counts. I’m also working on some things for a world I’m creating (for the purpose of publishing and using it as the basis for a series of adventures for some role playing games), and that’s taking up some time. And then there’s the books I bought at Borders (2 fiction (Jane Slayer (sp?) and…. another one that I can’t remember the title of off-hand – it’s something new to me), 3 non-fiction (1 about the Incas, “The Ultimate Guide to US Army Survival Skills, Tactics and Techniques” and the Howdunnit book on Forensics). And then the new Jim Butcher book, Ghost Story, showed up on my doorstep today. Lots of reading to do.

The kids are supposed to be going to spend the week my my in-law’s, so hopefully I’ll be able to do a lot more writing.

ROW80 Checking for the end of Week 2

I didn’t get a single word written for my WIP this week. I missed the last check-in, which is about typical for what’s been happening in my life over the past seven days. That said, I did get some other writing done – not a lot, mind you – and did some research for the WIP. Or tried to. There’s a book I was hoping to get from the library through inter-library loans, but it’s not currently available. It’s something that might be really useful, but I want to get a look at it before I buy it for my personal reference library.

I think that for the next week I’m going to be reducing my word count goal to 250 words. That might be more easily managed.

ROW80 Check-in

By today (I’m not counting Monday the 4th because writing that day wasn’t feasible) I should have written 3000 words. I’ve done 1272, so a little less than half. I’m not giving up on my goal – it’s difficult to get back into the swing of writing this every day and dealing with the distractions the kids cause.

And a note to myself, the current total word count as of this morning for The Morgan Affair is 56,608.

ROW80 Check-In for July 6th

I didn’t get any writing done on the 4th, and almost hit 500 words yesterday. The story is progressing, though how well I’m not sure. I’m going to do today’s writing later today, when things have quieted down somewhat.

ROW80: My Goals

Today is the first day of Round 3 for A Round of Words in 80 Days. My goal is to write an average of 500 words a day. It’ll be a challenge to do it, with the kids out of school until Labor Day, but they’re old enough to realize that when Mom says she’s working, they’d better leave her the heck alone. :)

The 500 words a day should get me to the point where the first draft of The Morgan Affair is completed, or pretty close to it. I don’t know if I’m going to give myself little rewards along the way, but if I do, I’ll be sure to let you know.
