Other Side of the Street Character Building Guidelines
Filed Under Other Side of the Street PBeM Game | Leave a Comment
The Renegades are no longer hiring for their team. Please do not send in character concepts as they will not be accepted for consideration.
Character submissions must be made in the steps and order outlined below. Failure to do so will delay the process, or perhaps even have your character removed from consideration.
STEP ONE:
Submit a character concept to the GM, making it as detailed as possible. The GM will use this to determine whether or not the character will suit the game. Do NOT assume that since this is a Champions™ game that it is set in that universe. Few characters or organizations from that universe exist in the Quantum Universe, but if they do, they will have been changed. There may be QU equivalents , so be sure to ask!
Your character concept must include an explanation of why your character is (or wants to be) a criminal.
Just about all the information you need to create your character is somewhere in the St. Augustine or Quantum Universe pages. Make sure you read them all, especially
the Quantum world history page. If you have any questions, please email me. Nothing will get your character concept bounced faster than a blatant disregard for the game universe history and background.

Other Side of the Street Posting Guidelines
Filed Under Other Side of the Street PBeM Game | Leave a Comment
- All actions are to be written in the past tense.
- All moves are to be posted to the players only list, not the oss_pbem mailing list. The oss_pbem list is for the posting of compiled moves and other announcements only.
- All actions are to be posted in narrative form. (ie. Mana peeked out from behind the ruins of the mecha to see if any of the agents survived the blast.)
- There are three types of speech indicators which will be used in this game. Things which are said out loud are to be bracketed by the standard quote symbols ("…"). Anything which is said telepathically is to be bracketed by stars (*…*). Anything which is thought by the characters is to be bracketed by an underscore ( _ … _ ). At times there may other forms of speech present, and these will be handled on a case by case basis.
- Any comments, questions or clarifications which are "out of game" are to be enclosed in square brackets, and have OOC or OOG starting the text. For example, [OOC: Is the guard looking over at the dumpster? If so, does he see Mana?]
- In situations where mutliple outcomes of actions are possible, especially in combat, players will be advised to give at least one alternate action for their character. These actions do not have to be written in narrative form. (ie. Noir will blast Ogre from her vantage point on the roof of the shopping centre to get him from behind. If Riot manages to take him down before she can act, she will cover the van in case someone else comes out of it and blast the person if he appears to be a threat."
- If your character is involved in a scene but is not doing anything for that particular move, the player must reply to the move and let the GM know. The same applies to held actions during combat.

Other Side of the Street Campaign Information
Filed Under Other Side of the Street PBeM Game | Leave a Comment
General Description
In the "Other Side of the Street" PBEM campaign, the PC’s will play supervillains that have been brought together to, well, do evil. :)
The game is set in the metropolitan region of St. Augustine and its environs, using the Hero System and modified by a series of house rules. The game will be run very much like a "standard" hero game, except it will be the PC’s committing the crimes. And, just like the heroes, they’ll win some and they’ll lose some.
There will be initially be spaces for 6 to 8 players, depending upon the characters which are submitted. Adult situations and language may or may not occur, so players must be able to handle this. Adult situations does not mean you can send me obscene email. No excessive vulgar language either. The provider of the web space has rules about what can and can’t go up on the web pages, and I don’t want to risk losing this account.
Crimes such as rape do occur, but I don’t want to see any of the villains in this game participating in it. If there are any other situations that arise that make me uncomfortable, I will let you know. Likewise, if anyone is uncomfortable about a turn of events or a plan that the team has, let me know and I will discuss it with the rest of the group.
Importance of PC’s: PC’s are supervillains.
Morality: Some cross-over between good and bad.
Realism: Neutral
Outlook: Mostly serious.
Continuity: Mostly serial, campaign continuity will be enforced.Physical World Description: Set in the city of St. Augustine in the Quantum Universe.

Other Side of the Street Player Requirements
Filed Under Other Side of the Street PBeM Game | Leave a Comment
Player requirements? What do you mean, player requirements?
In my experience of running pbem’s, there are several things I have found makes the game more enjoyable for everyone. First of all, moves will be sent out every three days or so, so players in the Other Side game will have to be able to get to their email - and respond to their email - on a regular basis. Many times the entire plot line has ground to a halt because a player hasn’t gotten around to responding. I understand that people have "real lives", but if I’m going to put the effort into the game, I want the same amount of effort back.
Secondly, this campaign is going to be run in such a matter that it is the players that decide what they’re going to do. The players will decide who they’re going to rob, kidnap or blow up. It’ll be my job to do the background work, and sic the forces of good against you.
