NaNoWriMo Day 15
Filed Under Art of Writing, NaNoWriMo | Leave a Comment
I made the mistake of trying to write in the living room today, rather than at the table in the dining room. My pitiful word count demonstrates how bad things were. I thought I’d be on a roll today. I certainly started off well enough, but things just got, well, sucky.
I did 1253 words today, just enough to get my green box. Total word count is 31,934. Not even the prospect of writing 66 more words will get me to the 32,000 word mark is enough to motivate me. That’s how bad things were today.
Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.

NaNoWriMo Day 14

They say that it takes two weeks to stablish new habits. I think I kind of like the habits I’ve gotten into because of NaNoWriMo. At least the ones involving writing. Having this deadline of November 30th to write 50,000 words has shown me I can buckle down and get the work done and write to deadline. I never really was able to do that before. I admit I’ve flaked on projects in the past, and that undoubtedly has hurt me. I believe NaNoWriMo is helping me change that.
And speaking of changes, I’ve come to the conclusion that I may have to change the genre Ive chosen for The Morgan Affair. It’s coming out much closer to paranorma, romance than I thought it would. But that’s okay. I suspected it might. I’m not really going to worry about the genre until the 100k (or maybe 120k) words are written and I start on editing.
When I go to do the editing, I think I’m going to try Holly Lisle’s One Pass Manuscript Revision and see if I can make it work for me.
So, about today’s word count. It was a great day. I did 3005 words, and that put me at 30,681. Woohoo! Go me!

NaNoWriMo Day 13

The day’s not over yet, but I think I’m done writing for the day. 1656 new words, for a total of 27,676. I’m at a good point to stop, just before a dream sequence, and I’d like to work it out a bit more, I think, before writing it.
Tonight I think I may concentrate on some other work. Editing the books for the Kandris Seal line, and watch Heroes. Man, I love that show.

And the magic number today is 26,020. That’s right, I’m more than halfway to the 50k mark. I was going to stop writing at 8 pm, but when I saw how close I was to 26k, I just couldn’t stop.
So, with the 1516 I wrote yesterday, and the 2943 I did today, that gives me a total of 4459 written this weekend. Not as much as I had wanted (I’d hoped to do 6000), but I’m happy with the milestone I’ve achieved.

NaNoWriMo Days 10 and 11

I took the evening off yesterday, and forgot to post an update. I wrote 2078 words yesterday (not bad, considering Ariana was very playfull and kept showing me her belly button), and a paltry 1516 today. That gives me a total of 23,077 so far. Still not where I had hoped to be, but far better than the alternative.
Hopefully, the eggs benedict I have planned for breakfast tomorrow will give me a good start for writing at least 3000 words tomorrow.
Anyway, I’m off to watch the last half of The Mummy Returns with my hubby.
