PL 2
Participants: 1 (0)
Casting Time: Ritual (15 minutes, 0)
Scope: Noticable (caster, +1)
Spell Requirements: No Special Requirements (incense, candles, charcoal; 0)
Effect Strength: Noticable (+1)
This spell can be used to determine the physical location of something. It can only be used to locate one thing at a time, and cannot be used to predict the future. If used to locate a mobile target, the spell will indicate the place where the target was the moment the spell was started unless another time was stated. (The time stated cannot be one that would be in the future when the spell was started, so the caster cannot say “where was Joe when we finished casting the spell”.) If more than one location would be appropriate at the time of casting, the spell will either (d10, 1-5) show one random location of the target of the spell, or (d10, 6-10) leave the entire map black from charcoal.
The caster places a candle and a burning cone of incense at each corner of a map, covers the map completely with a thin layer of ground up charcoal, then recites the invocation to (name here). When the incantation in complete, the charcoal can be dumped or blown off the map. An X of charcoal will be left behind indication the location the caster was trying to locate. Note that the charcoal can be brushed off, so care must be taken not to dislodge the material.
