How Many Days In A Month?
Filed Under Stuff | Leave a Comment
In my speeding through the web, looking for sites of interest and inspiration, I happened across a site with homeschooling resources. There was one document about the months of the year. That reminded me of a little trick my mom taught me when I was a kid – and easy way to remember how many days were in any particular month. All you need is your hands.
Make two fists, and starting from the knuckle of the little finger of your left hand, count the months across. So, the first knuckle is January, the valley next to it is February, the next knuckle is March, the next valley is April, and so on. When you get to July, you move across to your right hand and keep moving to the right, so the knuckle of your index finger is August, the valley next to that is September, and so on. Any month that “lands” on a knuckle has 31 days; any in a valley has 30, except for February, which has 28 (or 29 in a leap year).
I hope that makes sense to everyone who reads it. If it doesn’t let me know.

There are holidays for just about anything…

Not every holiday is a “real” holiday. Many are created by companies purely in an effort to sell stuff. Sweetie’s Day is one of those. I don’t see the need. However, I think the so-called holiday that’s being celebrated today is one that should be held worldwide. Today is National Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds Day.
‘Nuff said.
