Things in the Dark

December 8th, 2006

He was falling. It was dark - ever so dark - and cold. And with the cold came memories

He was trapped, locked in the root cellar. Small things around him started to glow, like small eyes belonging to some unknown boogeymen.

The eyes moved.

They were going to catch him. And eat him. And nobody would know what happened.

He struggled up off the floor and tried to find the door. He couldn’t find the handle!

He backed into the corner and, shaking, slid down onto his rear.

They were getting closer.

He tried to cry out, but only managed “Mama!” in a hoarse whisper before he was smothered.
