Tough Love For Writers

I have to confess I didn’t get anything on yesterday’s list completed. It took me a lot longer to do the writing for TMA Chapter 2, and it’s still not done. I’m almost there, maybe another 300 - 500 words to go. I should get that done, but this morning is going to be spent finishing up the edits for TKS d20 so I can get that out the door and start making some money.

The writing for TMA is going really slow right now because of the subject matter. Alex is really upset, and I’m still new at doing the deep POV stuff. It takes a lot of thought to get it all in. I’ve gotten some really good feedback on the first half of the chapter from my writing group, but obviously what I wrote isn’t perfect. I did get a great compliment, though. “I’m being so harsh because I really like this story.” Tough Love. Thanks, Sue. LOL!

But seriously. Writing is a craft, an art, but in the end, it’s a business. It’s the constructive criticism, the harshness, that gets a story to be its best. It helps you improve - if you pay attention to it. I’d like to think that I am.
