World Building

One of the most difficult things to do in writing Science Fiction and Fantasy is creating a believeable world. On these pages I’ll try to make a collection of useful articles and links to articles on other websites. If you discover any of these links don’t work, please let me know by posting a comment on this page.

My favorite links will always appear in the link categories on the left-hand column. All other links will appear on these pages.

Game World Design

Rich Staats’ RPG/World Building Articles – This is a fantastic collection of articles (some in pdf format, others as html links) about not only world design, but running a role playing game as well.

Medieval Worldbuilding Information – a LiveJournal dedicated to giving writers info about the Middle Ages so that they can portray life then (and in similar situations) with realism.

30 Days of WorldBuilding – exactly that. It’s a series of 30 tutorials, to be done one per day, to build the world for your novel.

Magical World Builder – created by the same writer as the 30 Days of WorldBuilding, but with some fantasy-specific topics.
